Some one has asked about my dibber for planting leeks...I do a bit of wood turning so knocked it out. Any gash bit of timber will do as long as it is wider than a loo rolls..... it has to force the soil out so that you can get the roll into the hole.

Off the point I am afraid but your regimental number RM 12345 seems adrift to me.
My closest chum from 1953 was Porky Marsden from Barnsley, about 10 years before you, he also started as Yorky but his manners and style dictated that he was known as Porky. His regimental number was RM 12348
Loved mt 12 years but they left the gate at Eastney barrack gate open one night
